Q: Why do immunologic FOBT tests reduce false positivity for this test?

FOBT testing is used to detect bleeding in the GI system, hopefully from cancerous growth in the intestine and rectum.  Since there many other sources of blood that contaminate stool, why is an immunologic-based test that uses antibodies to detect hemoglobin better to eliminate false positive results that are caused by hemoglobin.  I understand why the test is better guaiac-based tests by eliminating non-specific chemical reactions that occur using guaiac-based testing.
