Hi Katie,   There is no one treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and doctors tend to try out a whole host of medications to treat each persons particular symptoms. Since I'm not a doctor I'm not going to get into what medications may or may not be available or work for IBS. This is something that you need to discuss with your doctor based on your particular symptoms, issues, and problems.   In addition to medications to help treat IBS symptoms you may also want to look into diet changes and lifestyle changes that you can make which also tend to help ease symptoms. Many IBSers find they are lactose-intolerant, or gluten-intolerant, and that stress makes symptoms much worse. So, learning relaxation techniques, adding in some yoga, non-strenuous exercise, and even meditation can help IBS symptoms immensely.   Experimentation is where most of us have to start to figure out what will and what won't help us. It's a journey and will take time, commitment, and patience on your part.   Good luck to you, Elizabeth
