Q: Recently I had a colonoscopy which revealed three polyps - all precancer and all removed. Should I have another colonoscopy in three years or one to two years?

Five years ago I had a colonoscopy which revealed a benign polyp which was removed. Since I had three precancer polyps show up in five years, I think I should have another colonoscopy within another year or two rather than wait the three years my doctor recommends.

Hi Happy,

It's really up to you and the advice of your doctor and your ability to pay for the procedure. We aren't doctors here so we really can't tell you if you are at a higher risk for colon cancer. But it would seem that your doctor is aware of your medical history and is making his or her best recommendation. But, that doesn't mean you always have to agree with them.

The decision is, ulitamately, yours to make.

Best,

Elizabeth
