Q: crohns and meanpause

I have crohns and I think I am hitting early menapause, could you please give me some information about the two together? thank you

Connie,

 

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. But you should talk to your gynecologist about any new symptoms you are having around menses. Be sure to tell her or him of your Crohn's diagnosis.

 

Before I was diagnosed with UC I had a GI and a GYN who were convinced I was pre-menopausal, I was only 31. However, blood tests showed that my hormone levels were a-okay so they turned their attention to other options. This is when the UC diagnosis was found with a colonoscopy.

 

I do find that menstrual cramps both before and after my period cause me to have looser BMs verging on diarrhea. But if I can get the cramping pain under control my BMs go back to normal.

 

Do talk to your GYN and see what they have to offer to help you with your problems.
