Hi Udo, It's hard to tell for sure, but I do know that if i exercise too much, or too little for that matter, my IBD (I have UC) can backslide. When I'm in a flare I have to be very careful about how much exercise I get - much less than when in remission. I don't run but would think that the jarring effects of it could be disruptive to your inner organs, especially your colon since it's a weak spot anyway because of the IBD. I think you have to listen to your body. While in this flare I would cut back significantly on the running and possibly augement it with some walking or bicycling. Just don't stress your body beyond it's limits while flaring. It's trying to repair itself and if you put too much stress on it I can't imagine that would be good or helpful. Good luck, Elizabeth Reply

I agree with Elizabeth, and I have noticed that running can make me have to run straight to the bathroom!  I have been struggling to get a flare under control for the past year almost, but in the days and weeks that I feel good, I have tried running occasionally - sometimes I'm fine, sometimes I'm not.  I would just let your body tell you how much you can run, and give your doctor updates on how you're feeling with regards to running.  Good luck!

Excuse me for my English, I'm from Belgium and normaly I spoke Flemmish. My Chron's disease is in remission now but the only sport i can do is walking ( everday 2 hours ).  I spend 8 weeks in intensive Care for an urgent live treating operation because of Crohn. That was the cause i have a very heavy critical illness polyneuropathy.

thus jogging = no walking = yesSealed
