Hi Rebecca,

I'm so sorry to hear of your father-in-laws current condition. When I read the title of your post, my first thought was, he needs to have a colonoscopy with biopsies done to see if he has Inflammatory Bowel Disease - IBD. But, you say they've done the scope and found his colon to be healthy.

Since I'm not a nurse or a doctor I can't tell you what is wrong with him. It could be a parasite, bacterial infection, etc. I will say, however, that he should ask for a 2nd and possibly a 3rd opinion. You can do this, even if he is still in the hospital.

The best of luck to him,

Elizabeth
