IBD is a disease of the large intestine and the small intestine and is make up of either Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's disease. IBS is a functional disorder of the gatrointestinal tract and is diagnosed after all other GI disorders have been ruled out.   You may want to look through the IBS section of this site for further information. Plus, there are many good cookbooks out there that IBSers find helpful. However, you may need to figure out what foods, if any, contribute to your IBS symptoms so that you can eliminate those from your diet. You may want to read my previous Shareposts about keeping a food journal and the elimination diet. Prepared foods, fast foods, soda, preservatives, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and dairy products all prove to be the biggest problems for people with IBS. Eating a whole foods diet with few or no preservatives tends to be the best food plan.   Stress also plays a very large part in how bad a person's IBS symptoms are. While stress and emotions do not cause IBS they can and do make the symptoms worse.   Good luck to you, Elizabeth
