Q: my daughter is 7 diagnosed with IBD Crohn's and can't control her bowels what can I do?

She has accidents almost everyday and hides it from me. I find it in her laundry. Should I be concerned about this? Is it normal? What can I do to help her from embarrassment at school? She is also experiencing a loss of urinary control.

Scattyamu,

This is something that you should discuss with your daughter's GI. Since she has a Crohn's diagnosis her doctor needs to know all and what kind of symptoms she is having so that they can treat her properly. I would call the doctor's office today and make an appointment at their earliest convenience. Even with IBD, incontinence should not be a daily problem and the urinary issues need to brought to light as well. It could be a side effect to a medication she is taking.

Best of luck.

I have this problem all the time.  Except, I take Metamucil (orange flavored, coarse not powdered) about 2 heaping tbls with a small amount of water (only enough to get it down) this is good for your cholestrol and you can make it to the bathroom in time.  But check with the dr.
