I have to wipe a lot after bowel movement--sometimes using a 1/4 role of toilet tissue

After a bowel movement I have to wipe a lot sometimes using 1/4 role of toilet tissue--this is everytime. If my stool is hard only wiping not as much, but still using a lot of toilet paper. I have had three colonscopy in the last ten years and they can not find anything wrong. I had surgery on my rectum for a cyst maybe 25 years ago and every since I have had problems, but it has gotten worst in the last ten years.

Please Help--my doctor does not know what is wrong.

Art, I'm not quite sure what having to "wipe a lot" means to you.

I'm guessing thatwhat you mean is, when you have have loose stools, you feel like you are finished with the bowel movement, but when you wipe yourself, even though you thought you were done, there's still more stool to go?

The end of your question was cut off, so I don't know what else you intended to say. So, if you still have concerns, please write again.

No offense, Art. But first consider how often you are wiping.  Is it during the whole process or are you waiting till the end.  If you wait till the end, you can conserve toilet paper.  The next question I have is what type of TP do you buy.  If you buy those cheap brands, they just don't go far.  Any good dump with the cheap brands will quickly use up a roll of TP.

Hi Art,  I have the same problem..after every bowel movement I clean with a product call Balneol.  I put it on a cotton ball and insert in in the rectum..it might take a few cotton balls to get it clean. I hope this helps

I have the same problem.  For as long as I can remember I have had difficult to clean up BM.  Often I am using 1/4 or 1/2 a roll of TP.  I hate going to the bathroom at work or any where other than home because of the amount of paper reeling off and several flushes so I don't plug the toilet.  My anus sometimes bleeds from all the wiping, it can be quite irrititating to say the least.  The last year I have been using moist flushable wipes, they are a life saver, no more bleeding.  Still using a lot of them but at least it's easier.  I don't really have abdominal pain or bloating but I'm not really regular.  Sometimes have a BM twice in one day then skip two or three days then two days in a row.

Does anyone have any ideas what is going on.  This is an embarrasing problem that does restrict somethings I do or places I go.

Thanks
