Not all people with IBD have other physical problems along with their Crohn's or Colitis. However, because IBD is an auto-immune disorder it is possible that other auto-immune problems like arthritis, lupus, etc. could follow.

Unless you have symptoms pointing to other problems/illnesses it's not prudent for a doctor to tell you of other possible illnesses that you could get. The mind is a very strong organ and some people can actually make themselves sick simply by the power of suggestion.

Dear Prayer works, I don't know the answer to your question, but I couldn't agree more. I have personal experience with these problems. I suffer from Fibromyalgia , thin bone density, and depression non-stop. I don't think Drs. tell us because they don't know. All of the drs' practices are so specialized anymore .they are only interested in THEIR specialty at the time you're in there w/ them. For instance when was the last time your gastro doc. asked about your state of mind ? Or just aske about your overall health? Mine dosen't. I guess they just don't have the time. Ahh Modern Medicine....... well you take care Sioux.
