Q: severe pressure after bm

sometimes as soon as i have a bowel movement there is severe pressure pain. Last night i was on my period and the pain was horrible, like in my rectum.

I have constipation a lot and sometimes the stool just hands out long and rubbery looking and i have to manual pull it out, because it won't cut off and drop in the toilet. (sorry this sounds so gross)

i take fiber and drink fiber all the time. i have a lot of fiber in my diet also.

Could endometriosisis be a possibility. (heavy periods and severe cramping-47 yrs. old)

thanks

If your BM problems come around mainly with your period then I'd suggest finding a gynecologist who is conversant with both IBS - irritable bowel syndrome - and endo. Many women find that their period messes with their gut and their BMs and after the period is over things go back to normal.

If you are having this problem at times other than when you have your period you may need to see a gastroenterologist to rule out other problems.

Either way, it seems a trip to the doctor is in order since you seem to be in some serious pain.

Good luck,

Elizabeth
