Tammy, are you asking about equine inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or bowel diseases, in general?
If you are asking about IBD, from the basic stuff I know about IBD in domestic animals, IBD, as we know it in humans, is also seen in dogs and cats. A similar disease process, equine granulomatous enteritis, occurs in horses.
The animals are treated very much the same way as people with IBD are treated; similar, traditional drug protocols are used, and usually, a high protein, high fiber diet is recommended.
But, of course, I'm not a vet (no kidding!), so I hope that you have also consulted a large animal vet who is particularly knowledgable about GI disease.
Good luck!
Hope
