Crohn's Disease in an unusual location

Ilanit
04/18/09

Is it possible to still be diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when the inflammation is at the top of the small intestine and stomach where they meet? For 5 years, I have been suffering from this. Through trial and error, I have found a diet that minimizes discomfort slightly. After research, I see that it equals the Crohn's diet and my symptoms equal Crohn's. I am suffering so much right now. It is ruining my health, my life, my relationships and my job. I have lost countless jobs due to my illness. The majority of the time, I get ill within an hour of eating an offensive food. What I can eat is bread, pasta, mashed potatoes, bananas, bland steamed or broiled chicken and fish. I call it the white and pale yellow diet.

Without knowing all of your symptoms or history, as well as running tests such as a colonoscopy, small bowel series, blood tests, etc. it is simply impossible to give a diagnoisis. But, given your symptom pattern and your description of how this is adversely affecting your life it seems you need to consult a gastroenterologist. It is possible to have Crohn's anywhere in the large or small intestine, in fact the whole digestive tract. I suggest you call today for an appointment.

Best,

Elizabeth
