How long can a person go without having a bowel movement before it becomes dangerous? For instance some one with IBD or Ulcerative Colitis, is not having a Bowel movement for an extended period normal?

CAS,

Anyone, but especially a person with IBD, who is having major changes in their BMs should discuss this with their doctor. There can be many reasons for these changes such as side effects of a new Rx medication, food changes, blockages, etc. You really do need to make an appt. with your doctor - tell the front desk person what your problem is and that you need an appt. as soon as possible.

Good luck,

Elizabeth
