Q: No bowel movement in over a week

I've always had what I would consider "normal" bowel movements which is once a day maybe once every 2 days. It's now been 8 days. There has been no pain & no real need to go so I wouldn't consider myself as being constipated. Well tonite I was determined to go so after a bit of waiting I managed to squeak out a very tiny amount. It was very soft and a maroon color. It didn't really look like blood to me but I always think of blood as being bright red so who knows. Any thoughts?

I'm not a doctor, but I would think that not having a bowel movement in 8 days is reason enought to call your physician. This is not typical and they will be best able to advise you on whether you should be seen or not.
