Topics:throat ulcers

I supposedly have had Crohn's for 8 years and tried what seems like everything: Imuran, Steroids, Remicade, Methotrexate... I seem to be allergic to All of these treatments. I've seen specialists in Reno, NV, UCSF, and Stanford. My worst complaint about this is not the diarrhea but the painful ulcers I get in my throat , down my esophugus and now into my stomach. I've juat been retried on Imuran at 25 mg/ day w/ 40 mg. of Prednisone. (Only 4 days but I'm already starting to feel strange, kind of toxic) Has ANYONE had anything similar?

Hi Stephanie,

I'm sorry to hear of your continued troubles. I have UC so can't speak exactly to your problems. I think you should call your prescribing doctor and communicate to him or her how you are feeling.

When I lived in Lake Tahoe I found a wonderful GI in Reno who might be helpful to you - Dr. Dennis Yamamoto with Digestive Health Associates. I've since moved and wish I could have brought him along with me. Caring, concerned, smart, and he listened and treated me as a whole person not just a bunch of IBD symptoms.

Good luck to you,

Elizabeth
