Q: blood still present in stools aching is less is cortifoam still necessary

Diagnosed Crohn's a year ago after colonoscopy.

Pain is there every night but lessens in daytime

Cortifoam has been prescribed forone month and then check up by GI

Since the pain is less why do I need the cortifoam

Is it possible the symptoms will go away on their own without meds.

I dislike using the cortifoam enemas nightly

Hi Ann,

Any question about an Rx medication your doctor has prescribed for IBD is best asked of your doctor. We aren't medical professionals on this web site and we can't know you as a patient.

I do know that most IBDers require Rx meds. to get them safely and effectively through a flare-up. Not using your medications as prescribed can prolong a flare-up, make it worse, or cause flare-ups to happen more often.

My best suggestion is that you consult with your doctor before you stop taking or using an Rx med.

Best,

Elizabeth
