Thank you for your question.   This forum is dedicated to information and issues related to inflammatory bowel disease, not bariatric surgery.   I am not aware that there is a board certified specialty in bariatric surgery. The only requirement to be a "bariatric surgeon," is to be a general surgeon. However, I would suggest that you either go to the web site of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery ( http://www.asbs.org/html/about/membersearch2.html  ), or contact the medical society in your local area for a list of surgeons in practice locally, who have indicated that they specialize in bariatric surgery. Also, check the websites of large teaching hospitals and medical centers, for surgeons affiliated with bariatric programs.   Good luck. Hope
