Ulcerative Colitis is a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) that occurs in the large intestine and causes ulcers to form in the inner lining, or mucosa, of the colon or rectum. These ulcers often result in diarrhea, blood, and pus. The inflammation is usually most severe in the sigmoid and rectum and usually diminishes higher in the colon.
