An international team of researchers has found that the autoimmune condition celiac disease and the inflammatory bowel disease Crohn's disease share several genetic risk factors. Scientists have long known that people who have celiac disease have a higher risk of developing Crohn's disease, suggesting that there was a genetic link between the two conditions. This new finding provides evidence that this may indeed be the case.
