A patient with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) says that using curry powder on food has eased her IBS symptoms. Joe and Teresa Graedon of The People's Pharmacy suggest that it may be the turmeric spice ingredient in curry that is helpful. Turmeric, they say, is also used by some people to treat arthritis and psoriasis symptoms.
