Researchers in Mexico may have found a better way to treat
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn's disease, and ulcerative
colitis. A substance found in the fruit used to make tequila seems
to be able to carry particles of medications through harsh stomach
acid and into the colon. Many current medications break down in the
stomach acid rather than in the intestine where they are needed.
