A review of scientific evidence has found that often very private problem of constipation can increase a person's for or lead to serious health problems such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, colonic conditions, and urologic disorders. Researchers say people who have occasional problems with constipation shouldn't be concerned. But those who suffer two or more symptoms for at least three months for six months or longer are considered to have "functional constipation" and should seek medical help.
