'Medical food' for Crohn's sufferers goes to clinical trial

The British company Provexis has developed a form of plantain "medical food" for Crohn's disease patients, and it is about to enter clinical trials. A company spokesman says the product--currently called NSP#3G--addresses an important need for Crohn's patients, since there is currently no effective medical food product for maintaining remission in people with the disease. The trial, which is taking place at two locations in the United Kingdom, will last for approximately 18 months and will involve 72 patients.  Read full story >
