Celiac disease may raise risk of dying

People who have mild forms of celiac disease appear to have a slightly higher risk of dying than people who don't, researchers say. The Swedish study found that the risk of death increased by 39 percent in patients with celiac disease and 35 percent with latent celiac disease. Cancer and heart disease were the main causes of death, and researchers found that the risk was higher in people who had had small-intestinal biopsies in their childhood.  Read full story >
