Researchers find 5 new genes in childhood IBD

An international team of scientists say they've discovered five new genes they believe are connected to childhood inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Childhood IBD is often more serious and debilitating than adult IBD, and researchers believe that understanding the genetic links to the disease may help them tailor medicine to a person's specific genetic makeup. The newest research, published in Nature Genetics, also identifies a biological pathway that may cause digestive tract inflammation.  Read full story >
