Human Gut Genetic 'Picture' Revealed

Scientists have been successful at sequencing 3.3 million genes from organisms living in the human gut, a discovery that could help in the understanding and treatment of diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The sequencing revealed that at least 160 species of bacteria exists in each person's gut, a number that is far greater than was originally estimated.  Read full story >
