Bowel Disease Patients Have Higher Risk of Blood Clots

Results from a new study suggest that people who have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have twice the risk of developing venous thromboembolism, potentially deadly blood clots in the legs or lungs, than people who do not have the disease. The study also showed that in people aged 20 or younger, the risk of pulmonary embolism was six times higher among those who have IBD.  Read full story >
