Scanners

By Eliza Sunday, October 17, 2010

Hi!

I am new here and I have a queston in my mind these days.

Those bodyscanners in airports, or what ever they are called?

Will the scanner show my diapers when passing the security check?

How about the staff? Will they be suspicious and thinking "what does she has there"? Do I have to explain? Or what?

I cant manage even a short flight without diapers because I am scared of flying.

Eliza,

I fly on a very regular basis and I have not had any issues at all. Like you I wear disposables and I let the security personel know I have a medical condition, and then they will usually walk over to you or ask you to approach them, and then I simply say that "due to incontinence I wear special underwear" and usually they do a very quick search, and I am on my way.

I have to always bring diapers in my carry on so they will see that as well, so they will treat you as just another person.

Don't stress it, it's not a big deal at all.

Feel free to messageme if you have any other questions.

Mike

You have asked a very good question. With all the security at airports now, this is something that I will look into.

Thanks

I plan on flying in the near future and never thought of this.

Eliza.. I do not yet have personal experience with x-ray scanners.. I DO have years of personal experience with flying and security checks and 'pat downs'.. Eliza.. it all boils down to two issues: 1. you are or 2. you are not comfortable with your incontinence.. and what you must do to stay dry and comfortable in mind and body as you fly.. you and only you can choose your one answer.. period pure and simple..

IF you are comfortable with your incontinence and like me.. can NOT possibly imagine any flight without the comfort and without the security of totally ample and adequate protection from wetting and the inevitable leaks that will eventually occur from your disposable diapers.. then I can assure you from my years of personal experience.. NO ONE has yet.. NO ONE has ever.. hassled me about this issue.. from flight crews to security TSA staffers.. yes they go into my carry-on baggage.. yes they see the adult sized plastic overpants.. yes they see an ample supply of adult diapers.. yes they see cotton terry and cotton long leg pants I wear over the adult diapers to absorb the wetness from leakage that always happens sooner or later with adult disposable diapers.. yes (in the case of a pat-down) they feel and sense the bulk under my clothing.. again.. NEVER EVER has so one flight crew member or one TSA employee made any comment or raised one eyebrow at me..

I have to believe that these TSA employees are carefully trained and screened to be sensitive and considerate of all travelers.. BUT it 100% boils down to me and to my attitude.. I wear the products.. I must wear the products.. and I totally enjoy the comfort and security they give to me.. and some of my flights are in the fourteen hour (one flight) time range.. it would be unthinkable not to fully protect myself..

Good luck.. Best Wishes.. Keep your head held high.. you are NOT alone..
