Results from Botox

By Pete, Health Guide Sunday, August 19, 2007

As a results of a partial TURP about 18 months ago, I developed fairly severe UI, with some SI. About a month ago, I was able to get botox treatment for this. Thought I would share my experience.

The botox seems to be working, at least partially. (Had a foley for 3 weeks!!!!! I was NOT happy!!!!!), and I have not had a single episode of UI since. Have basically been dry. (I have a little SI, probably not much that can be done about it.)

However, another consequence of the TURP, if I void completely, I get terrible spasms. The pain level (scale of 0-10) is at least a 9 - 9.5. Since the botox, I have had a few episodes of pain, but they seem to be diminishing.

So... I will call this a success at least as far as the UI/accidents. Being consistently dry for the first time in 18 months is a big plus!

The jury is still out on the end-void spasms. If they continue, I may ask my doctor to try to trigone, if I get an opportunity to try this again.
