Good information

Thursday, November 22, 2007 at 09:07 AMThank you for this wonderful information. I didn't get this from my doctor but I didn't ask either. As far as I'm concerned, surgery is the only option for me since this provides the best outcome. It's worth the risks. I was wondering if people still need to wear pads after this surgery? If not, do you still have the occasional accident? I've always have UTi's - since I was 2. The UTI's have gotten better since the incontinence (unexpected bonus) and was wondering if they will likely return after the surgery? I've read that a lot of women get UTI's after surgery that normally wouldn't have. Is this a short term complication?

Monday, February 02, 2009 at 02:35 PMI have very similiar pain to what you have, and the mri showed no compression of any nerves. They think it could be 3 things.... The placement of a stitch, the mesh itself is poking into my groin/nerves, or the mesh itself is having a reaction with my tissue and the chemicals in the mess are irritating the tissue around that point. To me, it seems that it must be part of the mess or a stitch is in the wrong place, and must be removed. Why do I think this? Because if it where a tissue reaction, wouldn't I feel the pain all over, from right to left? Since I only feel the pain in right groin, and shooting down my right leg, it seems to me that this is a problem with the mesh only in that one specific location. I am probably going to ask to have it removed completely today. I can not live with this kind of pain and being on 2 different meds. for the pain. I am young, and this is not a good outcome for me. I have read far too many bad results from this surgery, with women having this kind of pain a year or more later. I think I am going to opt for having it removed completely. I do not know the brand or type of mesh, but I am going to ask about this so I can share my bad results with the manufacturer, etc...

They said that it woud take up to a year to heal but still nothing. I have to take pain pills and have no feeling on the inside of my leg. I really dont know what to do now. If anyone reads this and thinks I have a case let me know.

Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10:52 AMI had this surgery in 2005 for a prolapsed bladder. I woke up in immediate pain. They damaged my siatic nerve and the surgery also failed so on top of having the pain my bladder is the same as it was before. I can only walk so far for so long without my foot going numb and it feels like a dead foot. I have constant pain no matter what. I have had a series of spinal injections which help for a couple of months. They are not worth the cost I have to pay as a co pay even. The muscle relaxers don't do much and what you are supposed to live on pain medication forever. besides the fact that I have to work all day so you can't take an amount that will hide the pain.
I hope your end results are better than mine.

Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 12:16 PMI had surgery 12 days ago. Went home with a catheter because of a nicked bladder, and excrutiating pain down by groin into my left inner leg, out to my left knee and down to my shin. Urologist did not know what could be causing this. I figured either my leg was injured in surgery somehow (even being in the wrong position could have caused a problem) or it was the placement of the mesh tape. My orthopedic physician saw abnormalies with my spine, so I had an MRI on Tuesday. Will get the results on Monday when I see the spine specialist. Ruling out herniated disc. I am living on 800mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours, and Darvocet as needed. Can't be on my feet for any length of time without severe pain. Sitting and laying down I'm okay. But I surely don't want to live my life like this. I may opt to have the tape repositioned in hopes of alleviating it. Will wait a few more weeks to see how things progress.
Surgery appeared to be successful, but yesterday I did some minor stretching and "felt" a twinge in my pelvic area, and now I have urinary urgency. Hope it's just temporary too. What a mess.
