Whether your bladder is irritable, leaking, or you are frequently running to the bathroom, the loss of bladder control is embarrassing for anyone. You may be recently postpartum, had a recent hysterectomy or just realizing your bladder control is diminishing. Don't worry - Physical Therapy can help (Oprah's show featured Dr Christine Northrop who recommended PT for incontinence!). Your comprehensive treatment plan can include an extensive home exercise program, dietary and toileting habit changes, quieting techniques, and perhaps electrical stimulation and/or biofeedback. EMG/Biofeedback is used to measure muscle activity and record muscle strength and coordination during rehabilitation. Biofeedback is used as an adjunct to your exercise program, allowing you and your therapist to see and report pelvic muscle activity. You will not feel anything from the sensor but will learn what your muscles may or may not be doing, thus helping you reoconnect your mind to your muscles.

Hello Kim,
Thank you for your informative SharePost. If PT and biofeedback can help people with incontinence, we need to know about it. Much appreciated.
Best regards,
