Wearing a diaper in public can truly be a terrifying and stressful situation at first.  I know because I am diapered since from a young age.  Let me tell you that there are certain tricks that I have learned to tell myself that have really simplified the habituation process of getting ...

I'm not sure why some would feel that wearing a diaper in public is so terrible or risky.  Many of us do it every day.  Look at it this way, without protection, you stand to make a lot of people look at you should you be wet or smell real bad.  Bottom line, wear a diaper if you need it and don't worry about what some people may think.  I really don't think people care what a person wears in terms of underwear.

Personally I find it the opposite. In my case it would be terrifying NOT to wear due to my incontinence. I actually feel "secure & safe" with diapers and I have never had any negative comments made directly to me. I have had some wierd looks after I came out of a stall after changing, but that's expected.

I think those of us that deal with incontinence on a daily basis actually see "protection" i.e. diapers as security and freedom, at least I do.

Sure it takes awhile to feel completely comfortable going out in public at first, but I remember one of my doctors telling me to look at diapers as underware, and that's exactly what I did, and I moved on.

Sure leaks, and odor can cause the real problems, but you learn the "tricks of the trade" when you have worn long enough.

It's great to have found this forum.  I've been dealing with incontinence for nearly two years now and still struggle against embarassment for having to wear a diaper.  I have the most supporting wife and have become much more comfortable with changing and traveling in such a way as to make the best.  Probably the hardest part was finding products that worked for day and night wear without causing the most irritation and with the fewest leaks.  I often can hear crinkling when I walk but my wife assures me that no one but me knows.  I have also found some really good onsie type cotton deals that help keep things secure and private...they were a great find.

Thanks for helping me cope...hope that this somehow encourages another...
