I just found this site and decided I should tell our story too. I hope it helps others. My son always had a bedwetting problem and I wish that I had not taken away his night diapers but I did. Later, my sister finally convinced me to put him back in them. We are all so glad we did this. We lived with the smelly bedroom and daily laundry as well as being fearful of his friends coming over and finding out.
When he was ten, My sister was keeping him for two weeks while I was in a work related shool in the summer. I agreed that it was time and she got him started. She would diaper him along with her 1 and 4 yr old every night and yes at first it was somewhat embarrassing for him. Before the end of the two weeks however, my son was very open about how nice it was to wake up in a dry bed and being warm. he liked it!
We started out with triple thick cloth diapers and Gerber baby pants. When he was 12, I had to start buying the gerber 'toddler' size and I changed to what I always called a 'double double' diaper. I really believe there is nothing that works as well or is as comfy for an infant or child as the old cloth diapers.
My son is now 14 and still in night time double double cloth diapers and he will not go to bed without one on. I have moved up to larger plastic pants for him I buy on the internet which works wonderfully.
This is the best thing we ever did to help my son. His outlook and school work have improved too. If done properly ( however it works for you ) it is a wonderful solution to incontinence. My son wets at night partly due to type II diabetes.

Hi Raylene, I too was put into diapers by someone else other than my mother. I was at a friends house when i was 4 to be sat for,When lunch was over aunt carol took me into her bedroom and asked me if i still wet the bed...I said yes and she told me that it was ok with my mom if she put me into diapers and rubber pants before my nap. As it goes i awoke soaked but the bed was dry! And aunt carol told my mom about it and actually she sent home some diapers and old rubber pants for me to use until mom and me went shopping for new diapers and other baby things. But that is a whole another story. Now at age 49 i am in diapers 24/7 because of a back injury. I still remember that experience and it made it easier when i became diaper dependent. I have two boys, ages 9 & 13 who both wet the bed nightly. My nine year old still poops in his pants, too. I use Potty Scotties training pants on them and they work much better than pull-ups. Cost of disposables was really strapping me, so I gave these a try.
To keep them clean, I soak them in hot water and bleach, rinse and then add water and one cup of white vinegar per load of wash. Stains and odors are eliminated entirely. Hope this helps!
if your son is under stress that can cause stress incontinence ive suffered fron it for years try and calming herbal vitamins and use disposable diapers that breath and powder is a plus so he dosent wind up with diaper rash because there is nothing worse then using an ointment during the day it feels terrible.

Just because people enjoy wearing diapers for non-incontinence reasons it does not make them a sicko. If you expect people to be open minded about your medical issues you should also be open minded about psychological issues as well. I enjoy wearing diapers and I'm not incontinent. I'm not a sicko and my wife doesn't think I'm a sicko. I'd hate to have to live the rest of my life believing that something was wrong with me and that I should be ashamed of something that I can't change. Different strokes for different folks. hi my name is steven im 32 years old and wheelchair bound. i live with my sisster and her 10 year old douter. i was sort of ashamed of wearing diapers as well. but that's untill my neece told 2 of her friends she could trust. one time she pland a time when my sister went to her weekly bingo with her friends. she invited her friends round that night and after we had our take a way food i needed my neece's help to me. i gave here a sighen that i needed changing. so i went to my room (down stairs) to wait for her to help me change my diapers. that's when her plan went in to action! after she put a clean diaper on me that's when she called her frainds in. i was shoked and started to shout at my neece and cover my self up with a towle that she used to clean me. but that's when one of her friend's sed to me calm down and told me that her friend has alreadey told her about me wearing diaper's and my problem as a hole. that's when i was just about to swear at her when her friend sead that dose not care about my problem and me haveing to diapers 24/7. all she care's about is me ass a person and ass a hole and my good nature. that's when my mood change. she a;so sed your not the only young adult wear diaper's and that's when she got up and left to wach tv and her friend also. when thay left i was sort of angry with my neece still but she sed now you under stand that not all people are a like! and take piss of you. i calmed down after that and we spent the rest of the night waching tv untill it was time thay went to bed. i sat there thinking what she sed and since then i do not care what people think about me! if thay cant see through ny disability and look at me as a hole and my nature like my neeces friend's do! then i dont want know them. now i go out with out thinking about people looking at me and me being disabled. i can not thank my neece anouth. she told me to wright. i hope this will help you and other other people out there reading this. dont be ashame or shy like i was about my problem. please live your life to the full and i hope it's a happy on!

whilst I am open Minded to a certain extent and feel that wearing diapers is necessary if you have a physical or mental problem and need them and yes the wearing of them for psychological reasons is not hurting anyone !that is up to them !however giving into a child that don't need them and dont require them I struggle to understand! as that can lead to him aquireing a fetish for these items if you read from professionals on the topic and not from a mere lay person this can happen and can be a lifelong compulsion.
You do realize that this Fetish doesnt start in adulthood. It starts when you are child. Many children who have never worn Nappies have the fetish to wear them. How ever many of them keep it a secret because they dont know how to tell the parents or they dont have any access to Nappies
I also do agree on your point that if you put a child into Nappies then this can lead on to a fetish. And i did read some where, where this did happen.

they feel the compulsion to wear them ! 1.because they like the feel of the nappy and plastic pants 2. they feel compelled to wear them so much the inner self tells them to wear them and that call is that strong they cannot resist it! 3.psychologically they feel insecure and they are reaching back into a time that everything was safe and they had no cares in the world .so if your son wants to wear them to bed for No reason at all then You are buying into a future lifestyle for him that will probably be life long!
he may fight the feeling and it may go away for a while but it reoccurs time after time!.. 
some say it is impregnated in puberty some say even further back . some feel it is a psychological !who knows? I have researched into this and my conclusions are that it is a number of factors one at Puberty can be a trigger another is the wish to return back to a time where the individual felt safe and looked after !

Being disabled And needing protection from soiling oneself is a Nessecity There is no shame in having to wear protection for that reason and neither is there any shame if You wet the Bed and have a lifelong bedwetting problem!about 99% of children Grow out of Bedwetting either earlier or later My son was 17 yet my Daughter was 4 the use of protection for this sort of thing (Unless Medically diagnosed Problem)
does not help the child learn control at night sooner or later they will be dry!. I am on about children over 3 yrs of age!putting in a Nappy /diaper at night only prolongs the process the bladder to the brain does not say hey you are about to urinate so get up and go to the bathroom if the child wets the bed and has the feeling of wetness that child usually will wake up unless a deep sleeper! that is a problem and why an alarm clock or bedwetting alarm should be used to wake the child or mum and dad could take it in turns to wake the child !.hope this is of help

my family members had fun pulling pranks by makeing you think that they are going to shake your hand but in stead they would knee you in between the legs or if sume buddy was mad and they took it out on me. i told my mom and she begin to notice that i had a wet spot on my paints . she though i didn't finish at the toilet but i told that i stand for a good five minutes and no go .at age 7 i would put on a diaper from the purple box of pampers i'd would fit because i was skinny but my younger broughter couldn't fit . because he was big for his age .but buy the time iwas 13 i still fit .

i am the mom of two teen daughters,ages 15 and 13 and both are bedwetters.I use a cloth diaper and rubber pants on both of them every night.i buy them teen size cloth diapers and adult size rubber pants and they work quite well for both of them,i wash the diapers and rubber pants every 3 days and put them in their diaper drawer.at bedtime they both lay side by side and i powder them,then pin the diaper on each,then put the rubber pants on them.
