Pain at the site of a suprapubic tube can be for several reasons. The most common would be that the tube is causing irritation and spasms of the bladder and there are medication that your Urologist could use which are called anticholinergics. Another cause could be local irritation at the tube site as a result of urine that is irritative. A topical agent such as Balmex may be helpful. Lastly if the thought is that the catheter is going in too far, rigging up a solution to kep the catheter at a fixed location could be helpful. This could simply be accomplished by the use of a hair roller. By placing the catheter inside one of the rollers with a foam insert and taping the catheter to the roller at the desired location, the catheter will remain in place.
