what do you do at night for incontinece?

everynight I usually have bed wetting problems... as day time problems turn into night time problems.  Anyways, I have to use a bed pad becuase my diaper doesn't always work.  right now I am using with molicare super plus... but I have tried different maximum absorbancy diapers for night time use.  am I just doing something wrong?  I am about to give up on the more expensive asorbancy diapers and just wear day time diapers and let the bed pad catch it... but then when I go more then once it could be a problem... I guess I didn't think of that.  I probably go more then once at night.  Anyways, any suggestions?

Hi, Johnny,

What do I do at night? Diapers, of course! I wear two different kinds of diapers, depending on where I'm going to be. I usually wear inexpensive Kendall Wings for at-home time, and Abena X-Plus for work, or if I'm going to be away from home for a long time. Sometimes I'll wear two Wings, instead of one if I'll be away from home. Saves money.

It's important to get the right size. Measure (or better, have someone esle do it) your hips and waist. Get the disposable that fits the larger measurement. Make sure they're snugly taped, but not too tight. And you should be aware, if you aren't already, that disposables will leak if you sleep on your side. It doesn't seem to matter which brand you use. I sleep on my back, so it's a non-issue for me. Still, there's the occasional small leak. I've always had a rubber or plastic sheet on my bed to protect the mattress.

For absolute nighttime leak avoidance, you need to wear cloth diapers and plastic pants. In my experience, nothing else works quite as well. Even a premium diaper with a soaker doesn't work quite as well as cloth. I think this is because a cloth diaper can be made more form-fitting. Sort of like custom tailoring.

Well I do sympathize with you. Probably the best suggestion I can offer is to check the size of your. Make sure your not buying to small or large. Also keep in mind that different diaper manufactures sizes are different. For example a Molicare Super Plus Medium is sized 27"-47" and Secure Xplus Medium is 32"-44" and Abena Abriform Xplus medium is 28"-43". Keep in mind these three diapers are probably top of the line and should not leak in a night if buying the right size. Order samples of these three and see which one fits the best, offers the best comfort and protection. Also you may wish to limit your intake of fluid a few hours before you sleep. Hope this helps.
