prescribed Detrol LA for overactivr bladder after having my prostate gland removed. I am afraid that I might experience tachicardia again. I have a very sensitive digestive system.

I would appreciate your thoughts. My physician is very hard to get in touch with.

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern, and hope that I can help you. Flomax is used to treat BPH, or benign prostatic hyperplasia. It helps to relieve symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Detrol LA is used to treat incontinence, and works on the bladder. Though both medications can help to relieve some of the same symptoms, the two medications work through entirely different mechanisms. If you are still concerned about the Detrol, ask your doctor if you can use regular Detrol (not the LA) first. The LA form is designed to last all day, while the regular form is taken twice daily. In the unlikely event that the Detrol causes an unwanted side effect, you would be better off to have it last for only 12 with the regular Detrol rather than 24 hours with the Detrol LA. I hope this helps!!

Best of luck,

Casey
