Q: Problem with incontinence after TVT sling surgery

I had TVT sling surgery in July of this year, now I have a problem of feeling like I have to go and as soon I feel the urge I barely can make it to the bathroom.  I only had stress incontinence before sling surgery.  What could the problem be?

After TVT surgery, there are several reasons why incontinence can occur. SLings can be either too loose, and persistent stress incontinence occurs, or too tight and patients can be in urinary retention resulting in overflow incontinence. It sounds that what you are describing is urgency or urge incontinence, which can occur after this type of surgery and can be very effectively treated with medications. In all likelihood over the next several months, your symptoms should resolve.
