Q: Reputable doctor for revision on failed mesh/TVT surgery 4/08?

I had surgery for a prolapsed uterus --resulting in a rectocele, cycstocele, and enterocele.  Since, I've been dealing with ongoing UTI's, kidney infections, hematoma's, pain in my left leg making it difficult to walk, complete lack of relations with my husband due to abrasion of the mesh, neuroma of scar tissue at the entry sight.  I will go ANYWHERE for a great doctor.  Please help.

Hi Asalzara, you have been through the mill. I am so sorry to hear about this. Was the rectocele, cycstocele a result of surgery or was the surgery to correct these also. Pain in your left leg could well be the result of a hematoma due to you not being able to walk as much as you should. The abrasion of the mesh is not uncommon. I wish I could be of more help, but regarding a reputable doctor, I would take 3 or 4 opinions before deciding which way to go.

Have you approached the doctor that did the original surgery? Surely he must be held accountable.

The only think I could suggest which I am sure the doctors have suggested this anyway is a pessary ring. This would support the prolapse for a while.

You need to get to the root of why you are having kidney infections and ongoing UTIs. Are you diabetic? The UTI's could be the cause of bacteria travelling up the urethra due to it being open and suseptable to infection, or it could be the kidney infections triggering this.

I hope you are maintaining a good fluid intake despite the infections. You need to keep flushing those kidneys. Stay off caffine, alcohol, and fizzies. Cranberry juice (no sugar) warm water with fresh lime or lemon juice is a good antibacterial.

That's so sad that you've been through so many complications and pain from your rectocele & cystocele repair :(    I haven't had all the problems that you've had, although I also, can't have sexual relations with my husband. I've been examined and only told that sling isn't holding. I can feel either a rectocele or cystocele now. Did you have the revision surgery, and if so, how was the outcome?  I'm very frustrated and confused as to what to do. What does erosion feel like, or what is some symptoms of erosion????  I wonder if that's my problem...

God Bless, I pray you had a good outcome and you're feeling better now.
