Q: Solutions please for leakage around stoma of suprapubic catheter

I have had a suprapubic catheter for a couple of years--I am completely bedfast.  It has begun to leak around the stoma.  Why?  What can be done?

There should not be leakage. It is important that you insure there is no obstruction to the flow of urine through the catheter to the collection bag. You should contact your doctor who inserted the suprapubic and be seen if there is not a kink in the tubing. Nancy Muller, NAFC Reply
