I think the medication that you're referring to is Detrol LA, which is used to treat incontinence. Your doctor may have samples. If your doctor doesn't have samples, you can ask that he or she write a prescription for the generic Detrol (not the LA formulation). The generic Detrol contains the same ingredient as Detrol LA, but the generic is dosed twice day instead of once a day. It will be much more affordable, however. There are also a few other medications available in generic formulations that can be used to treat incontinence. If you're trying to be cost-effective, as your doctor about prescribing you a generic medication rather than the costly brand name drugs.

Best of luck,

You can try asking your doctor for samples. Also, often the commercials for drugs say something to the effect, "If you can't afford this medication, please call us at..." You could try calling that number to see if they can help you get the medication. Another thing you might try is looking for a clinical trial of a new version of the same kind of medication. If your husband joined the trial, he would receive free medication. You can look for studies at clinicaltrials.gov.

Good luck!
