Unfortunately there are possible side effects associated with the bladder sling procedure. I would encourage you to begin an exercise program, strengthening your pelvic floor muscles, so that you use the sling as an assist rather than the answer. Our pelvic/abdominal basket should be viewed as a muscular area that requires exercise to maintain optimal function. Just like you would learn and perform different strengthening exercises for a weak leg muscle, you also need to perform exercises to strengthen not only your pelvic floor muscles but also the pelvic muscles that support the pelvic floor. The APTA website (women's health section) will provide a list of Women's Health Physical Therapists in your area.
