Q: Problems after the TVT Sling procedure for incontinence

I have had my tvt sling in for 6 weeks now, and although I no longer wet myself when I cough or sneeze, my incontinence has got worse. For instance, I was on the motorway and needed the loo, so I stopped at a service stattion, and went to the ladies and performed, walked back to the car, and wet myself without any warning before I had chance to even unlock the door. This has happened countless times now, and it just comes in a flood without any real warning. I also have 2 little lumps either side of the pelvic bone, and they are verty sore, I assume they are the 2 ends of the tape. but I am now really regretting having had the procedure, as I am so much worse. I live in Oxford, and had the op at the John Radcliffe hospital. I'd love to hear from other women who have had it done there, as they say that over 95% of their ops are successful.

The same happens to me, involuntary leaking. My bladder gets to a certain level then just empties with no warning. I also have urgency. I had my sling done 2 years ago and i'm now looking for a surgeon to remove my sling. I am doing pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day, a little better but hasn't helped the involuntary leaks. I hate this and i'm depressed as it has taken over my life. I am in talks with two uro's and neither are keen to remove the sling. I want it out, continue with pelvic floor and possibly have bulking agents put in. All talks at the mo, but i wished i had never had the sling done.

i had the sling operation on halloween of 2009. i used to hv leaks most of the time. it was very annoying and i had to constantly change myself.  after the operation, i am dry, but hv urge incontinence without any warning. i do very well during the day and take meds for this, but after sleeping at night, when i wake up it just flies out of me, no warning.  i had my urethrea tied up in the sling.  i guess it's better than before. i don't travel anymore since you sometimes hv to wait on a line for the airplane bathroom and i'm not sure i could do that. i'm   76 yrs old (and 1/2 lol) and don't mind not traveling anymore.  i hv osteoarthritis and now hv been diagnosed with gouty arthritis, which means i get swelling and pain anywhere on any day.  pills, pills, pills.  i just try to go with it.
