Topics:tvt complications

Bladder still does not empty properly. now void then self-catheterize, measure etc.  My surgery was july 31/09. How long should I keep persevering before I give up and have the tape cut.If I do this are there any options left if my stress incontinence reoccurs. My surgery had the 2 pelvic incisions.

Have you worked through an exercise program to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles?  My advice would be to work both quick contractions of your sphincter muscles as well as 8 to 10 pelvic floor elevation exercises, holding for 8 seconds on each before relaxing.  This will get your muscles firing again as they are supposed to.  Work these exercises for the next 4 weeks.  This will not only give you some time to see strength and endurance gains of your pelvic floor muscles, but also to allow ample healing time from the surgery before you make any decisions.
