Have you worked through an exercise program to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles?  My advice would be to work both quick contractions of your sphincter muscles as well as 8 to 10 pelvic floor elevation exercises, holding for 8 seconds on each before relaxing.  This will get your muscles firing again as they are supposed to.  Work these exercises for the next 4 weeks.  This will not only give you some time to see strength and endurance gains of your pelvic floor muscles, but also to allow ample healing time from the surgery before you make any decisions.   Tasha Mulligan MPT
