Hi Ron,

I don't have urge incontinence myself, but I know of many people who use medications to manage it (including close family members). Some LOVE the freedom that the meds provide, and others find the side-effects (commonly dry mouth and blurred vision) too bothersome to make it worth it. Some people also use shots of botox to help calm the nerve sensation in the bladder. Neither of these are actual "cures" for urge incontinence because they only work short-term and then have to be repeated to continue seeing / feeling results (by taking another pill, or in the case of botox getting another shot in a few months to a year). And sometimes you'll still have to use adult diapers / absorbent products to help with additional leakage.

Many people have looked into the treatments that are available and they either aren't an option, or don't give the desirable effects, and then decide to use absorbent products / adult diapers for the long term to manage leakage. You definitely are NOT alone in using these products!

I do, I treat my problems with wearing a diaper. Wearing diapers are not all that bad. Come to thnk about when I am wearing a diaper i have no worries about wettting or making a scene. Don't be ashamed about wearing a diaper.

You could try external catheters with a leg bag. Or you could try the McGuire urinal with or without a leg bag. There are other answers to incontinence than diapers.

I had untreated BPH which went on for too long as the military doctors in the Middle East said I was imagining things and if I brought it up again they would send me to mental health. On my exit physical in the states, they sent me to a urologist right away and he operated within days.

But the damage was done. It was hard to accept at first, but now I am a 24/7 diaper wearer.  The brands sold in the stores (even that big name brand) don't do to well, so during the day I use Abena Briefs and at night I use Abena-X with a vinyl diaper pant.

If you are discreet, no one knows except your doctor and in your household. I wear pants a size up in the waist so they are only slightly loose fitting. This brand is quiet.

There are a lot of posts on the site www.depend.com/boards that may prove useful.

Remember that a diaper is just an assistive device like any other such as a cane, wheelchair or pair of glasses. Just as the others don't define you, neither should a diaper

Hi Ron, read you inquiry. I am in the same boat as you are and I have to wear a diaper too. During yhr day I usually wear Depend Proective Underwear or when I am at home I will just stay in a diaper. Wearing diaper to me in not a big deal, yes it is embarrasing when others find out you or I am wearing a diaper. But think of it this way. Would you rather have a diaper on and stay dry or risk it and be wet all day where everyone will see you being wet. I have dealt with incontinence for many many years. I have worn a diaper since very young age. Over my childhood I was in and out of wearing a diaper. Till finally I just stayed and wore a diaper. Don't feel bad.
