Couple of months ago, my surgeon gave me the collagen treatment, but the incontinence became worse. I have to change pads three/four times a day.
It is very embarrassing.
Please advise.
Thanks.

I had surgery (PC) 5 years ago and am still Incontinent. I was told it would last 3-6 months then was told maybe a year. I have given up believing it will ever end. It is embarassing and more so it affects everything yopu do from going to a sporting event to playing golf to visiting family and friends. It wears on you. I have never gotten use to it. Home is where I feel best (safe). If I had know it would have been like this I would have gone to radiation not surgery. But I did not - so here I sit. I have not given up doing things, but the stress at times is maddening. Good luck and you are not alone! Papa

Reply to Papa,
I have a suggestion for outings where you will be out of the house for anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours. So that you are not using pads, diapers, incontinent aids, my suggestion is a Texas Catheter. This is not a catheter that goes inside the urethra. Instead it is a condom type of apparatus that fits snugly over the penis and is attached to a catheter tube. You can use a leg bag or a belly bag for the urine to flow into, whichever you prefer.
The Texas Catheter comes with a bit of adhesive, if needed, to safely secure the condom at the base. I highly advise using it so the condom does not unravel and come off.
Many men use this method when they have to go to events and are bothered by wetness, frequent trips to a men's room, or changing incontinent aids. I have advised this to others and I am told it is a good suggestion and has changed their life so that they are not homebound 24/7.
I suggest you give it a try at least twice (space out the events/outings, so that it does not occur twice in one week). Once is not enough to know whether or not this is a viable solution because if the condom needs to be secured better or you choose a leg bag instead of a belly bag, one adjustment can make all the difference.
Please write back after you have given this suggestion a try. As your urologist for at least three free sample Texas Catheter kits (he can get them from a hospital central supply) as this would be easier than you having to locate a source to buy a few to give this a tryout. If he won't do it for you, ask for a prescription and any home health supply house can fill the need, although waiting time may be up to a month on delivery.
