The Food and Drug Administration has approved Sutent for the
treatment of renal cell carcinoma, an advanced type of kidney
cancer. Sutent was given advance approval in 2006 based on ongoing
clinical trials. In the study, patients who took Sutent more than
doubled their progression-free survival.
