Study: Detrol ER eases overactive bladder in women

Research presented at the annual meeting of the American Urogynecologic Society has found that Detrol ER (tolterodine) appears to significantly improve overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms and health-related quality of life in women for up to six months. For the study, investigators enrolled 202 women who had OAB and urgency urinary incontinence (UUI). Some were given Detrol ER and some were given a placebo. After 12 weeks, 57 percent of the women taking Detrol ER reported no UUI episodes, and at 24 weeks, this number rose to 70 percent.
