Electrical device may calm overactive bladder

A surgically implanted electrical device may help many of the American who suffer from urinary urge incontinence, researchers say. The device stimulates the sacral nerve which is located near the base of the spine, and though researchers say they are not certain why stimulating the sacral nerve helps, it may reduce incontinence in people who have not been able to control their symptoms with medications, kegal exercises, and biofeedback. Experts say the device does not work for everyone, and doctors recommend that patients use a test device for one week in order to determine if it will be effective.  Read full story >
